On Friday, August 14th, MNsure announced a special enrollment period for individuals on COBRA. This special enrollment period will run from Monday, August 17th through Thursday, October 15th.
People who lose coverage through an employer based plans are often surprised by how much continuing their coverage can cost. Usually coverage through MNsure is cheaper. This special enrollment period will allow current COBRA enrollees to reevaluate their situation, providing an opportunity to switch to a lower cost plan through MNSure.
This special enrollment period is only available through MNSure. It is not for plans off the exchange.
Enrollment takes place at mnsure.org. During the enrollment process, enrollees will need to call MNSure and give attestation of qualification for the special enrollment period. After this enrollment can be completed. Individuals unable to enroll online need to contact MNSure at 1-855-366-7873.
